Kick off for Hamburg art initiative “Malerisches Harvestehude” (Picturesque Harvestehude):
Four artists paint their impressions of Harvestehude; sponsor of the arts, Christa Block, as patron; exhibition of artworks from September in Sophienterrassen
Today Frankonia Eurobau launched the art initiative “Malerisches Harvestehude” (Picturesque Harvestehude) with patron of the arts Christa Block. From now until September, four artists – Hinnerk Bodendieck, Stefan Dobritz, Susanne Wind and Peter Witt – will paint their impressions of the Harvestehude district. The resulting paintings will then be exhibited in Frankonia Eurobau AG’s Sophienterrassen. “Harvestehude is an unrivalled area in Germany, where Hanseatic flair and this premium location on the Alster lake are uniquely reflected in the architecture of the district,” says Hilke Branding Rettig, signing officer of Frankonia Eurobau. The aim of the initiative is to capture this uniqueness in contemporary art and exhibit the results to art lovers.
Frankonia Eurobau it delighted to have Christa Block, one of the greats of the north German art scene, as patron for the initiative. “We have four wonderful painters for the project. They know each other, they are all first class painters and have unique styles, nevertheless, they can be combined harmoniously for a group exhibition,” says Christa Block. “I am delighted that this will forge closer links between the neighbourhood and art and further promote landscape painting from northern Germany.”
Initiator of the “Malerisches Harvestehude” project is Dieter Benecke, a Hamburg publisher, who will also lead it in collaboration with Frankonia.
One of the participating artists, Susanne Wind, will also exhibit some of her work as part of the Open Day on 24 May, from 12-5 pm.
